Editing tool
Compuscript's electronic editing tool has many important features, which have proven to serve our customers well. The SGML file is always preserved. We can edit directly and can still use it for other SGML applications. This makes our tool particularly suited to environments where a mixture of SGML applications is used in various sequences. It is relatively easy to figure out what styles are required, to create them and associate them with the appropriate tags. New styles from new or existing customers can quickly be set up to serve the particular needs required by those manuscripts. Pages can be part of the main workflow. Our system allows us to update files to produce pages. Updates are made to SGML source files and the pages are created again. Since our editing tool leaves SGML files intact, there is no reason to treat pagination as a final step. Files can be edited before, during and after composition, which allows for great flexibility of workflow, especially in environments where corrections are made at the 'page proof' stage. Our editing tool is designed to produce a wide variety of publications. Here are some examples of applications: to compose all the official proceedings of a state's legislature, to produce scientific journals with complex text and equations, to produce various law publications from a large legal database, to produce specific financial annual reports and financial reports in multiple proof cycles where accuracy and rapid turnaround times are vital.

10 years in Shannon Free Zone
This year ten years ago Compuscript moved to the Shannon Free Zone. Founded in 1991 Compuscript bought new premises for their fast expanding business. The Shannon Free Zone offered a number of benefits to the company such as a well laid out Business Park, an international airport just 5 minutes from the front door and an excellent infrastructure.
According to Mike Cushley and Morgan Lyons the developments of the last ten years have been astounding due to the arrival of SGML full-delivery service to customers. Compuscript has always been eager to embrace new IT developments to the benefit of its customers. The biggest changes were the introduction of electronic product workflow with the coming of SGML and PDF files, the setting up of Compuscript's own Manuscript Tracking System, the Internet becoming the most important means of communication between authors, editors, publishers and audience and the developments in IT to ensure that Compuscript has a state of the art IT infrastructure. With the help of our very dedicated loyal staff, we have managed to make all the necessary changes. For the next ten years Compuscript will remain as flexible and eager as ever to keep abreast of change so as to serve the needs of its customers.
